My husband and I put a downpayment on a brand new Suzuki in the evening hours well after 6 pm. The salesman told me he would call and give us the financing details after we told him we could not afford the payments he was proposing. He said he'd work on lower payments and contact us. I had the vehicle 12 days with no phone call. I kept calling and leaving messages, but no one returned my calls. Left messages with the manager and finance director, and still no return call.
Finally on the 12th day, I receive a call to come in. The financing details are the same. We told them we couldn't afford it, so we returned the vehicle. We were told because the banks were closed after 6:00 pm, he couldn't return our downpayment. That is a lie, because it went as a credit card payment, and those can be charged and refunded anytime.
My husband kept calling, and no one returned his calls.
We ended up driving there 70 miles round trip to get the deposit back. Again the manager said since it was after hours, he could not refund it. He told my husband to call back today (January 12) before 6:00 pm to get our down payment refunded.
I will post more later and report whether we received our funds.
