Faking an inspection

In June of my husband excitedly purchased a 2004 BMW for me...

The salesman and managers at Stephen Wade Nissan were people that we were familiar with and we felt very comfortable with the purchase. We felt that we could trust what we were told and that all of the things we were told about the car were true. Unforunatley, we learned a very expensive lesson about trust.

Three weeks after the purchase of the car, I received a phone call from the registration clerk asking me to bring the car in for inpsection because no inspection had been done on the vehicle and the car could not be registered until it was done. I was unable to take the car in that day, but happened to see the managers in a social situation later that day. I asked one of the managers about the inspection, he looked at the used car manager and asked, incrediously, if he had not inspected the car. The used car manager remarked that the car had come from BMW and would have been inspected there. They then talked and told me to bring the car in the next day.

I took the car to the service department the next afternoon, the first manager that I spoke to met me and told the service manager to sign off on the inpection because it had been done. Needless to say, no one looked at the car.

On August 1st I was on my way to work when I noticed that I had a flat tire. When I arrived at Big O they onformed me that both of my rear tires were worn to the threads and I needed two new rear tires. (I was told at the time of pruchase that the tires were new) The tires cost $500.

On August 18th, I was driving the car and lost control on a summit, the car had to be towed to Las Vegas. The repair shop in Vegas asked if we were going to claim the burst bushings on our insurance would pay for the damage as it was obviously from a collision. I had never been in a collision...$800.

The car was parked for the winter.

When the car was taken out of storage, it was taken in to a BMW dealer for service. I was told at this dealership that the car was unsafe to drive and they could not allow me to take it off the lot without repairs done... They asked if I had had any of the previously mentioned problems. The car had subframe damage that was causing all of the other problems. I contacted Stephen Wade and they refused to acknowledge the botched inspection. This repair cost me $3500.

During the research, we found that the car had not been bought from BMW, but had been a rental. I would never have purchased a car that had been a rental.

I have contacted Stephen Wade and filed a report with the BBB, but all they will offer me is the option to buy another car from them at a "good" price.

The frame cannot be repaired, I have to replace the tires every 3-4 months, even with an alignment.

I now own a car that is worth nothing due to frame repairs and it has been in the shop more than it has been on the road.

Please head my warning and have your car independently inspected before you ever sign anything!
