I drove to an interview in southern california and parked in a metered spot around 3:50 PM. To my shock, I parked in a spot that only allowed parking between the hours of 9: AM to 4: PM, Monday thru Friday and when I returned from my interview, my car was gone! Ah! Totally and completely my bad. No issue with that ticket.
Approximately, twenty days later, I recieved a delinquent notice in the mail stating that I needed to pay this ticket AND ANOTHER TICKET. What? I telephoned them immediately and said that there was no way I could have moved my car as I was in a job interview and can provide proof of such from the company with which I met. They took that to be my initial contesting.
Since that day, I drove back to the scene of the crime and have video-taped where they claim I magically moved my car and to my astonishment, the signage reads that anyone can park on this block, Monday thru Friday, 9: AM -6: PM. To six PM.
The ticket was issued at 4:27 PM (Comments on Tx: "No stpg 4P to 6P toway.)
So not only was it erroneaus because the car did not move (other than to be towed) but that they could not issue the ticket to begin with... There was no violation. Period.
One other thing, when I got my car out of the pound, there was only one ticket in the window (the erroneous one.) I have never seen or held another ticket.
This ticket should never have been issued and this company should be held accountable for their fraudulent behavior and arrogance in their incompetence.
To cut to the chase, I've contested the ticket to them numerous times by phone and in writing and have contacted the Mayor's office. I can not see how this is legal. If anyone has any advice, please let me know.
