Purposly holding checks until payments were late and late fees were charged to my account

I switched to AIG just the beginning of this year. I heard some bad things about them at first, not thinking much (they needed the government to bail them out, they spent way too much money on a company vacation, etc.) Then every month i started receiving cancellation notices in the mail. They stated that AIG had not received payment yet, it was past due, and they gave me a couple weeks to pay them of my policy would be cancelled. I have Wells Fargo automated online bill pay, and my checks were sent 5-7 days prior to my bill being due. I thought maybe it just was taking the mail longer to get there, so the next month I mailed my check 2 weeks in advanced. A couple weeks later I received another cancellation notice from AIG. Hmm... That's strange. I called Wells Fargo and made sure my checks were being sent on time every month. After a day of research, Wells Fargo informed me that all my bills had been sent as planned. My bank called AIG to sort out the situation; AIG told them they still had not received the check (on 10/23 around 3pm). I talked to my bank again on 10/24 and let them know it was okay to stop the payment on the check that was sent and mail another one.interestingly enough, when the bank pulled up my account information the check had already cleared, the day before. AIG lied to me and my bank, claiming they had not received my check. The only conclusion I can come to is my checks were being held on purpose to ensure late fees were charged.
