I called to set up a test-drive with an SE Miata 2001. They finally posted photos of the auto and I noticed that the interior did not match the Special Edition (SE) Mazda. I asked 2-3x why this was so and got vague and generic answers (from Robin) that the car had been "heavily reconditioned" and she didn't know which "options" were installed in the car. After I asked her to please find out, she simply discarded my inquiry and gave me no answer.
Against my better judgement, I went to test drive the car and told the salesman (Carl) that the Miata was NOT an SE but an LS when I saw it. I pointed out the options of an SE vs an LS and he kind of shrugged and didn't say much. Perhaps he felt that car buyers are idiots and don't do their respective homework before making an investment? In fact, when he gave me the carfax (which showed it was a lower-cost "LS") I told him that the dealership was STILL misrepresenting the car as an SE on their website, but again, he gave no response that explained anything.
Upon looking at the car, the front bumper was a darker color than the rest of the car and it was obvious that it had been in an accident and I told Carl this... He reluctantly agreed but defended that "carfax" stated there were no accidents on the car. I told him that if someone paid cash after an accident and it was never reported to insurance, etc., than it wouldn't show up on carfax... He had this stone-faced expression upon hearing me say this. He was a lousy salesman and the car was a mess. Shift knob was clanging, clutch was shuddering and I was so disappointed that this dealership blatantly lied about what level car this was.
Please beware of this dealership... They are horrible and have no integrity. They are filthy and should be ashamed. I could go on and give more details about my experience but I won't. I just don't want anyone to waste their valuable time on a low-class, scummy, scamming dealership that is screaming for sales and not getting them.
