Elite Motors Of Tampa
Broken Promises & Lies

I visited Elite Motors of Tampa about a month ago looking to purchase a used 2003 BMW 325i since I saw one of their cars online at a good price. When I got there the car was already sold, however one of the salesman showed me a car saying "We have another one that's a 2004 for the same price."

I thought to myself "Wow, this is great!" Just remember, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. This was no exception. So I test drove the '04 car and loved it and then started talking with their other salesman Dave (who told me later he was an owner).

I was appreciative that Dave was able to get me a really good interest rate on the vehicle, but when I looked at the bottom line it was 2k over the price of 2003 BMW I originally wanted to buy. I thought to myself "It was an honest mistake the other sales guy just didn't know the price of the car." I talked to Dave and the price of the 04 was dropped already, 1k less than it was originally going for online. I knew I was getting a good deal already and was very appreciative of Dave getting me the good interest rate. Dave also threw in some free floor mats so disregarding better judgment I decided to buy the car.

When I finally was given the car keys (2 sets) one set did not work (it was for another vehicle). I returned the other set and Dave said he would definitely order me another set free of charge. I drove home in my new car. This is where things go down hill...

I noticed the next day that I was charged for a higher version of the after market warranty then what I had purchased through Dave. I called Dave back, he said he had already taken care of it. I also asked him about my mats and second set of keys, he said "They have already been ordered and should be here in 2 weeks."

2 weeks later I call Dave, about the mats, and key. I was told "Call back in a week when Dave gets back from his honeymoon." I asked can someone else help me since my stuff was already ordered. To which they replied "Nope, you'll have to talk to Dave."

3 weeks later I finally talk to Dave, who tells me "Come in on Wednesday, your stuff is here as well as your license and registration." I was like "Great, because my temporary tag is about to expire." So I drive back to the dealership, low and behold Dave is nowhere to be found. They have my license, but the people there look at me crazy when I ask for my mats and keys. I talked to Greg who says he'll see if he can get me the mats and I will have to buy the keys through Reeves Import Motor Cars (an offically licensed BMW dealership that sells parts) but will get a discounted price if I mention Elite Motors of Tampa. I also tell Greg that my warranty was never fixed, he said he would handle it.

4 weeks later (today) I call Reeves they say they don't offer discounts on keys, not even to their employees. I call Greg back at Elite and explain the situation. He still hasn't fixed my warranty (says he'll do it tomorrow) and tries to give me a number to another place to buy keys from. (What I didn't mention earlier was before I bought the car, the door trim was falling off and Dave gave me the number to a place that could have it fixed for cheap. I went to this place Dave suggested, the place didn't do this type of service and pointed me to Reeves who did it for $266, not cheap) At this point I am pissed I say "I was promised free keys, free mats and my warranty fixed and haven't gotten them, will I ever?" To which Greg responds "You aren't getting your free mats, or your free keys." So I tell him I will write a rip off report about Elite Motors of Tampa which he seems unphased by and says "Go ahead."

The morale of the story? Do not be allured by the low prices at Elite Motors of Tampa. You will eventually pay for it with broken promises, bad service and migraine headaches. I have no reason to lie, hook me up to a lie detector I'll ace that thing. I don't work for another dealership, just another middle class citizen who was too gullible to see when he was lied to. What I don't understand is, why Elite Motors just blatantly lies about things. I found out later through Reeves that my car is still covered by a Certified Pre-Owned warranty, which the previous car owner had purchased. I was never told this by Dave. So I am still waiting for my warranty to be fixed that I don't need. I have given up on the free floor mats and keys...
