On May 18th, a vehicle was purchased in my name from Car Choice Motors, Inc. The vehicle, a black 2002 Mazda Tribute, was paid for by a good friend of mine, but registered in my name. We have the bill of sale showing the full payment. I still had my old plates so there was no need for a whole lot of tag service charges.in fact, Gil Ben-Simhon, the car dealer, signed our loan agreement as a witness. We asked that the title for the car be forwarded to my friend and Gil Bin-Simhon agreed to make those arrangements. I left that car lot secure in the purchase and ownership of this vehicle.
Months passed and neither my friend, nor I ever received the title for the car. I started the marathon of phone calls in August and always got Gil's voice message. He never answered and he never responded to my phone call. Still feeling secure, I finally reached out to the DMV and I learned that Car Choice Motors, Inc had a lien on the vehicle. A LIEN??? For a car paid in full. DMV was not able to give me anymore information. Apparantly, any such information must come from the lien-holder. I also learned that the only way Car Choice Motors, Inc could place a lien on my property is if I signed a financing agreement of some kind.
I never knowingly signed anything that anything to do with financing this car with Car Choice. We are now in December and Gil is no where to be found. I googled his name and found him on Facebook and on usacomplaints.com.
My next step is to make a personal visit or send a registered letter. I am looking into legal next steps.
Beware of gil ben-simhon. He is a crook!!!
