On return of the THRIFTY car to Munich Airport on Saturday, October 18 the counter staff claimed a few miniscule scratches on the door, something I neither caused nor had noticed before. (The takeover on October 14 took place in darkness).
The rep, Karsten Sowa, promised to get back to me by e-mail the following Monday. I never heard from him but found an immediate charge of Euro 1.000 ($ 1.250) on my credit card.
Numerous e-mails and faxes to THIRFTY's German headquarters in Duisburg remain unanswered.
Whatever the investigation on these almost invisible scratches will reveal, this charge is exhorbitant if not to say criminal.
If I do not hear from them within days I will have to take legal steps. Very disturbing that an international company like THRIFTY/DOLLAR applies such cowboy tactics to enrich themselves and then remain silent when asked for an explanation.
