I own a 2003 Jeep Liberty. On 8/29/06 as I was turning the corner the ball joint in the driver side wheel snapped, stopping my tire from spinning. I called my dealer and Chrysler, they said that there is no recall now for it; the recall in the past was for the Liberty's that were manufactured up to March. My Jeep was manufactured in June.
The rep at Chrysler said that there is going to be a recall in September and my VIN may not apply to it. I found another bulletin on it with a number to call. The message said that they are not releasing the information on the ball joint recall because they don't have enough parts. After doing more research Jeep Liberty's from 2002 - 2006 with 47,000 to 67,000 the ball joints will snap. Chrysler knows this information and is not telling the public. This will cause serious injuries, possibly death. Chrysler needs to step up and pay for all models to be fixed before people die.
