I was involved in a vehicle accident. I was lucky to be alive after another vehicle t-boned me at a four way intersection. The police had told me while I was waiting to go to the hospital that my vehicle had been towed to the SEMINOLE PAINT and BODY. I wrote it down. I proceeded to the hospital.
The next day was a Friday. My wife drove me to SEMINOLE PAINT and BODY to retrieve my vehicle. Unfortunately when I got there no one was around. I called the number I had pulled from the internet prior. A dispatch had answered my call. A lady informed me that they had my vehicle but the weather had been to bad and SEMINOLE PAINT and BODY would not be open till the following monday. I pleaded with the dispatch, but she kept saying she had no control over the opening and closing or if I would be billed for the entire weekened which would make it 5 days. I was forced to give up.
Monday morining My wife drives me again to Semiole Paint and Body. This time the place is up and running. However this time we are told that the vehicle is actually not there but instead that the Sanford Towing and Recovery has my vehicle. I immediately complained. The dispatch had given a song dance about how I could not retrieve the vehicle they said they had and now they were saying another company had my car and thats where it really gets interesting.
We immediately drove to Sanford Towing and Recovery. A building with many warning signs and window for the reception unusually outside. It appeared that they didnt want anyone getting inside the build. After ringing a bell on the window a man stepped out to give me the situation. He had said that I was being charged $320 for the tow, papperwork and 5 days on the lot. I told him of the dispatch of the other tow company saying they had my vehicle. He told me that Sanford Towing and Recovery was open on Friday. I told him that I had to call the dispatch to find out why they told me my car was somewhere else. I said it sounded like a scam.
The man quickly became furious and threatened to kick me off of his lot. Keep in mind my arm is in a cast and I still suffering from injuries from the crash. He said that its dangerous to be using words like scam there. Fine Ill figure everything out later, this guy is crazy. I told him I just need to get my car out. He then told me that I would have to get someone that carried workmans comp on them to take the car out.
So I called AAA to the rescue, unfortunately they told me that everyone has workmans comp but company policy does not allow its employees to carry it on them. Other places I called were telling me the samething. I had to keep calling the Sanford Towing to find out how to get my car out. A lady anwering the phone there kept yelling at saying that I was arguing with her, but all I was asking her was how to get my car out if no one is aloud on their property?
After several phone call and AAA and another service standing by to get my vehicle, SANFORD TOWING finally told me that what they wanted was more money. They would tow the vehicle out of the lot so the other tow company could pick it up with out going onto the lot. If only they told me that before. I went with my wife and the people I hired to get get my car out to the window to pay for my vehicle. There was a lady at the window. The same one I think I talked to. She was blonde and middle aged.
The company I hired started asking the lady why they couldnt just go on the their lot to get my car and she yelled that its the law that any person coming on has to have workmans comp. Papers. She left and came back with some written company policy paper but no real regulation. I myself had already given up and attempted to sign a receipt the lady gave me through the window. My wife tried to help me because I was still suffering from my injuries. This time the lady at the window started yelling at my wife saying that Only I could sign it. I ended up just making an X with my left hand. The lady quickly pulled the receipt throught the window slamed the window closed and almost shut the glass and my left hand. I had never seen anything like that. $420 to get my vehicle out of that lot.
