We bought a Ford Freestar a year ago. It was 2.5 years old with 30,000 miles. The salesman said it was certified and in a one shape.
We paid $13,000 for it which was more then its worth but what we could afford.
A week or two after taking the van home we noticed at times the transmission would SLAM into the next gear while driving about 35 miles an hour. We contacted the dealer who told us to bring it in. We did. They said nothing was wrong. Then it kept happening so we called and took it back in again. They took it over the weekend stating they would test drive it and run tests. They gave us a rental car to use over the weekend.
That Monday we picked the van up and sure enough it didn't SLAM into gear anymore. When asked what they did they said NOTHING. Said there was nothing wrong with it.
Well, now its been a year and the transmission is giving out. Not SLAMMING into gear now but dragging.
I called customer service who told me there is NO record of us bringing the van in for transsmission problems or the rental car. They want us to pay for inspection and any repairs.
These tells me they didn't do a real service to the van or did a quick fix in someone's drive.
