My Hernando Mitsubishi experience started out great. The salesmen were personable and helpful. They were patient and helped me pick out what I wanted.
After that everything went down hill. During financing they would only say what my payments would be and not the selling price. That question kept be advoided and rerouted, which they were very good at. Before signing the papers I was questioning the numbers on my trade in and total selling price of the vehicle I was buying. After asking several questions and being led around about this is how they have to do it to make all the numbers work out, the finance manager informed me that he has been doing this forever and knows what he's doing. He continued by belittling me by informing me that if I didn't understand now, that "he could explian it until he was blue in the face and I still wouldn't understand."
I know know that at that point I should have walked out, but this was the first experience of buying a car alone and just felt too humiliated to walk out.
Anyways I ended up paying thousands over what we had agreed upon and now own a car that has a book value of $10,000.00 less than I owe on it.
Bottom line - Make sure you know AND understand what you are paying for a vehichle. Don't go on the assumption of good monthly payments means a good deal. And watch out for a balloon payment at the end! Get up and walk out if they don't explain everything to your satisfaction. I know I will next time!
