On May 20th. I went to Amarillo, TX for what was to be a week vacation. I rented a car from Budget for one week, at $172.79 for the week. I was called home on an emergency basis after five days, and returned the car on May 25th. Budget did not charge me any less, although I only had the car for five days. That is NOT the rip-off.
When I returned the car, I first filled the gas tank at a gas station, got a receipt, and showed it to the counter person when I checked out (they didn't want to keep the receipt - only look at it). The check-in computer printout from Budget clearly states "IN FUEL" full.
Imagine my surprise when, almost two weeks after I got home, I received a letter from this Budget branch, informing me that my rental transaction had been "audited" for refueling charges, and billing me $14.98 for two gallons of gas, charged onto my credit card WITHOUT MY PERMISSION.
I called my credit card company, and they backed me up, and removed this charge for $14.98, because they believed me that the charge was not justified.
If Currey Enterprises.inc. Wants that money, they will have to sue me, and I am sure when I show in a courtroom that the tank was returned full, they will just be embarassed. Hear that, LOIS CURREY. And shame on you, KEN HIGH, the general manager who signed the extra-charge letter.
