Collateral Protection Insurance

Like others, my wife and I purchased a vehicle in September and got financing through Wells Fargo Auto Finance. Now they do state that if you do not provid proof of insurance they will automatically purchase collateral protection insurance. The problem is that they stated that they never had proof for the time period of Sept 07 to Jan 08. Now we never had a lapse in insurance. We were charged for insurance through their provider, Balboa. We have faxed proof of insurance four time to no avail. Noone seems to know if they've gotten the faxes or not. I called today and hopefully got things straightened out. They have been calling insesently, to the point of harassment. 12 times on one sunday. Today they called three times in five minutes. After the second call I called them back and was on the phone with a person that should be fired. I asked why they had called twice within three minutes. I was very frustrated by now. While I was speaking to this person we recieved yet a third call. When I asked again why we were recieving yet a third call, he said something like are you going to let me talk. I said yes, he said that we owed money and that they would call whenever they needed to get that money and that he didn't want to hear me bitch about getting phone calls. I was stunned. I said really your going to use foul language on the phone with a customer, that's pretty bad customer service. His response was that this was collections. I stated that I wanted to speak to his supervisor. He said that his supervisor was to busy to listen to me bitch about getting phone calls. I could not believe this guy. He also stated that he would just hang up on me, which he did. Now so far this hasn't been more then a mild annoyance but their treatment of customers is unbelievablly poor. They clearly have communication issues within their organization. I actually had my insurance company call Wells Fargo to straighten everything out. Wells Fargo confirmed that they spoke to my insurance company and that the proof of insurance was there yet it will take up to 30 days for them to credit my account for the Balboa charges. While they know everything they will still call. I was actually told this by a collections rep. They were going to put a hold on any phone calls, but that would only last 5 days. What a joke. They know that we have never had a lapse in insurance, but until the charges are credited they will continue to call.
