I, like many hundreds, if not thousands out there have fallen victim to Wells Fargo Auto Finance and their illegal practice of putting "forced placed insurance" (aka Balboa Insurance) on my account without reason/merit. I faxed proof that I had current insurance coverage and had never lapsed. I even had my insurance agent send it in several times only to be told that we needed to re-imburse Wells Fargo for the insurance that they put on the account before they would make any changes. They then applied my car payments to the insurance causing my account to reflect that I'm behind on my payments. A year and several months later, when I actually was late on payment for the very first time, Wells Fargo Auto Finance had my vehicle repossed (having only been late by 4 days - including the weekend!). Now, they are suing me for the difference of the money I still owed on the vehicle and the amount they auctioned it for.
It is my understanding that MANY people are out there in the EXACT same predicament and I would like to join in any class action lawsuit against this ridiculous game that they play! Please let me know if anyone begins one or at least knows of a good attorney willing to take such a case.
Thanks!
