On 4/15/08 I took my Dodge pickup truck to Planet Dodge, in Humble TX. I took it there for a recall and it also needed a hood liner and an overhead reading lamp bulb change. (Bulb was burned out.)
The service advisor told me the only way to change the light bulb was to remove the overhead console. (He lied.) The cost for that was to be $55.00.
Not knowing any better at the time I acquiesced to this charge.
Later I obtained a maintenance manual and it showed how to replace the light bulb. You simply open the lens cover with a small screwdriver and remove the bulb. The bulb is not accessible from the back of the overhead console which they supposedly removed.
After 3 days in the shop, the recall was not completed. The hood liner was not properly secured. My brand new driver's side floor mat was covered with greasy footprints. Oh yes! They did change the light bulb.
After arguing with the service advisor he lowered the light bulb bill to $38.00. I continued to try and get my bill down to reasonable. The assistant service manager and his boss were deaf to my arguments and would not change the $38.00 light bulb bill.
This dealership is apparently only interested in doing expensive repairs. If you have lots of money and time you will be happy there.
