Grease Monkey 'requires' that you provide name, address, phone number, e-mail, and other personal contact information. I have asked both my local franchise and corporate why it is that they need all of my personal information in order to change the oil in my car. They have not responded. I asked if it was because the wanted to send me Spam and junk mail, and was told that "we don;t do that". I then asked again why they needed this information. I told them that if this was a serious requirement in order to get my oil changed, I would take my car someplace else. If they don't have a legitimate reason for collecting this information, I am not going to give it. After all, Identity Theft is rampant. I was assured that "it was not a problem' and that they would change my oil, - which they did - but they gave me a LOT of grief over this issue. The Manager was particularly rude, and keep telling me that "they run a polite business" although his actions certainly didn't back that up. I have run into this before at other businesses. I went to a haircutting place once that wanted all my personal information. I asked why, and was not given an answer. I asked them if the haircut came with a warranty, and that was the purpose of collecting all the information. Again, no answer.
