I first took my 1992 Geo Prizm to Advanced Computer Automotive to repair/fix the brakes, which were squealing. This was on Feb. 15. They charged me $508.04 to replace the front brake rotors and pads, as well as replace the valve cover gasket (invoice #33087).
A week later, the heater core failed. They wanted to charge me $900 and insisted it was not related to the valve gasket cover replacement. I instead decided to take the car elsewhere, and they made a big fuss before giving me back the keys.
The other place charged me $800 — a difference of $100.
Now, a month after taking the car to Advanced Computer Automotive, the brakes started squealing again. The other brake repair place I went to told me that ACA had not properly resurfaced the pads and used cheap rotors. They had to resurface both the pads and the rotors and only charged me $120.
I feel that ACA overcharged me for incredibly shoddy work and tried to get even more money out of me to fix the heater core.
