No free iTunes for me?

I received an email coupon for a free batch of iTunes when I purchased an iPod recently but when I went to redeem the code it wasn't recognized by the sytstem. Kind of disappointing. I've always really liked iTunes, and was thrilled to have a few free songs coming my way. No such luck this time around.
