Household Auto Finance
Ripoff City of Industry

If you are not desperate and have any other choice, do not use these people to finance your automobile. They have no mercy if you are late in making your payment, for any reason.

When my husband and I got married, we both had good jobs. When I became pregnant with our oldest son, I found out that I had a very bad case of gestational diabetes. I was soon on bedrest, due to labor coming to early. My son was born at 27 weeks gestation. He spent four months on life support and survived. We later learned he had cerebral palsy.

The reason for my giving this background info is so that you may understand how I came to sign the contract that has hung the albatross around my neck for the next four years.

Due to taking care of Aaron, our credit was soon wrecked. We had made the mistake of having a two income debt ratio. When I could no longer work, we became bottom of the barrell scum. We ended up filing for bankruptcy. (Chapter 13, so we could pay back some of what we owed.)

When I went to buy a new van, seven years later, Household was the only company who would finance us. I had never heard of them and saw no reason to be concerned. The first year of our financing, I was on auto-pay. I had gone back to work, teaching school and the payment was deducted from my checking account the day my paycheck posted to the account.

Later that year, we bought a new home in a new town. I changed our credit union and forgot all about Household's deduction. They sent the payment through 3x. My old bank finally called and told me what had happened. I felt terrible. So I called Household and tryed to explain. They wanted the nsf fees, the payment and interest to be paid right then. I told them there was no way I could do that and offered to set-up checks by phone to pay the balance.

We set up three checks, two covering this little fiasco, and the next month's payment. Gave them my new checking information and the dates at which the payment were to come out. The supervisor I spoke with proceeded to put the first check in a week early. The phone calls began. Talked to a lady who said, yes she saw where he had put the check in early, and that if was clearly their fault.

No problem, I sent the amount of check by money order, two day mail. The second check was made to old checking account. Now we have people calling us everyday, telling us how we have bounced the last two checks that were in arrangement and our arrangement was in default.

Suffice it to say, this began in June. As of November 1st, I will finally be caught up with these people. I have never received compensation for check fees that were charged on my account because of their mistakes, but believe me, I have payed them dearly for mine.

As soon as I can, I will have this car refinanced. My husband has a car financed through Americredit, these are the most understanding people I have ever dealt with. While all of this commotion was going on with Household, Americredit deferred two payment for us, so that I could clear up this mess with Household. *BUYER BEWARE!!! *
