HAFC Refusing to refund money owed to borrower Was a ripoff on APR to begin with

This company is crooked. They offered us a car loan in June. We accepted because it was that or taking the bus. We paid them on time every time for the last 2.5 years. On November 6 we bought a new car to replace the aging piece of junk we bought with the loan Household gave us. The dealer agreed to a payoff of the remaining balance on the old clunker. The payoff check was sent to Household, and they received it before our billing due date (by their own records). But before we could call to cancel the automatic payment on our checking account, they took another payment out on us. So, we have to make their car payment and the new one. We called, they said yes, we received it, but we won't send you the $214.91 we owe you for at least 45 days to make sure the dealers check cleared??? What the hell??? I advised them of Federal Law called CHECK21, where all checks clear within 24 hours of deposit. So they say that law doesn't apply to them! Besides, they claim their policies have more weight than law. So they say get a check from the dealer showing where it had been endorsed and returned to them. Of course, the dealer doesn't have that because their accounts all clear electronically now (AKA check 21).

Now I have to wait until the end of December while they sit and draw interest on my $214.91. Household is a horrible ripoff, they charge exhorbinant fees and then don't return money that they owe to you when you finally get the chance to get away from them. Don't ever work with Household no matter how desperate you are. Their CSR told my wife while she was asking about this that he didn't mean to be rude, but she was wrong. I'm sorry, we are owed money by you. Maybe we should call you every 30 seconds like you do to those poor other people I read about on this website that can't make their payments!
