George Gorbid listed a 2005 sports car on Ebay.
The vehicle was stated in overall excellent shape.
He ended the auction and sold it to me directly from his business Y & K Auto Sales
I sent the following email:
As you will understand, I need to know if there is anything about this car concerning it's condition, that might affect it's value. I would like to learn of any flood damage, accidents, body work, replaced body panels, paint, frame work, or flaws before purchasing.
I will rely on your expertise and knowledge of the cars history to disclose any findings you become aware of concerning the above mentioned.
If all is good as expected, then we can proceed with deposit, and final payment.
He responded: Hello
This vehicle holds clean title and clear carfax history. The
car doesn't have any dents or scratches.interior is very clean as
well. It is non smoker vehicle. It doesn't have burns, stains,
or other defects. This vehicle drives great, oil has been changed.
Tires shows normal wear. This car still on factory warranty.
I had a mechanical inspection performed and ran a CarFax report which came up clean.
Upon receipt of the vehicle which is a Blue/Silver color that changes with the light, I noticed irregularities in the color of the rear quarter and bumper. Clearances were not consistent, and I discovered paint over spray. Closer inspection revealed pits in the paint and waves in the body lines. I pulled the trunk liner out and it revealed a poor rear quarter panel repair complete with drill holes oozing with body fill used to pull the dent out. As well, a front lower grille piece was missing.
I decided to re-paint the vehicle and took it to a local body shop. They discovered poor quality body filler which had to be replaced and severe damage to the underlying structure. A vent with flapper valve from the trunk was missing as well as the seal. This would eventually allow water to enter into the trunk area. The underlying structure was bent twisted and cracked and had began to rust. I had the proper repair work performed.
I contacted Y & K Auto sales reminding them of the inquiry which specifically asked if there was any body work performed and asked how they would like to proceed to mitigate my losses. I was told I bought the vehicle ASIS and further correspondence would be directed to the junk folder
I filed a complaint with the BBB in Florida and recently received a call from a detective who is investigating Y & K Auto Sales in regards to some very serious charges. My situation is one of many that are being investigated. Apparently he has a brother in another state that is under the same investigation.
I am from out of State. I thought I had performed due diligence to protect myself before purchase.
Had George been lawful and disclosed the damage, I would not have purchased the vehicle.
Y & K Auto Sales purchased a damaged vehicle from the auction, concealed the damage with a shoddy repair and then sold the vehicle without disclosing the damages. It is illegal in Florida not to disclose body damage.
In my opinion, anyone learning of this post and the other bad reports, and who defends this crook is an idiot.
My post is not open for debate. It is intended to educate the unsuspecting public in a bid to prevent the fraudulent actions of Y & K Auto Sales.
