If you have been thinking of purchasing a new vehicle used or new, *beware*. Do not buy it from bernardi toyota. I recently in december decided to buy a new car. I had previously owned a 2002 kia spectra, which i have to say has been wonderful for me over the past 5 years. But i thought it was time for a new car.
So one day i started looking in the newspaper to see if there was any good deals out there. Dont be fooled by newspaper ads either, its just a scam to get you into the dealership to buy a car, they never have the car as advertised. Anyway to continue... If you have bad or poor credit, god help you when buying a car, because let me tell you, the dealership takes full advantage of you knowing that your credit is bad.
They first tell you how they can help you with no problem, and how they can fit your needs and get you the vehicle you want and deserve, (which is total bullsxxt lies).
I went online one day to search, how to buy a car with bad credit. I came up with a website that is called auto express, i also think that this company scams people, they probably get paid by the dealerships to prey on victims of these cars they sell. Anyway, auto express is a service that doesnt get you a loan, but finds you a dealership that they say can help you get a new car. So this auto express calls me a few days after on the phone letting me know they have a dealership in framingham, mass called bernardi toyota.
So i call them, and there finance dept. The man i was suppose to talk to, his name is gill rogers, by the way, i would have had a better time dealing with the devil, than him... He is satan himself. So beware of "gill rogers, of bernardi toyota. So he is on the phone with me, he sounded nice enough, and i explained to him about my bad credit situation, i told him i had been laid off from my job, and had lapsed on my credit card payments, thus destroying my credit rating, my rating was about 429 which is really bad, but anyway, in the past i never let my car payments go, i always paid on time, and paid off my kia in full 3 months before going to this dealership.
So anyway, i tell gill rogers, that i dont want using my social security number to call a million banks to see if i get approved, because when they do that, it will bring your credit rating down even more. Needless to say, that axxhole gill rogers, did it anyway, and ruined my credit even more. So he asks me to come down to bernardi toyota, which is in framingham mass, off the turnpike.
I come in, he sits me down, shakes my hand, and says he's glad that he can help me. I fill out a bunch of forms as your supposed to do. I must have waited about 6-8 hours in total that day. I figured these people were busy, which they were, but it was so excessive of a time wait. Anyway, i thought they were treating me like a king, and i was so excited, gill comes out of his office and says, good news, you "have been approved". I was so happy, he says to me, "go outside and pick out which car you want, and come back in and we will finish the paperwork. So i did just that.
Well i go into gills office, and he has in front of me a 'lease aggreement". I looked at it and said, whats that? Thats not a lease is it? He say's ya. I say, i dont want a lease, i want to buy a car, he tells me, ohh this is a great program just for you, you will love it... Im thinking this is bulsxxt, i dont want this, but i am so embarrased, i was in the dealership for over 6 hours, and tired, so i looked it over and stupidly signed it... Long story short... Big mistake!!! Dont ever sign a lease, its like signing your soul away!
I go home that nite feeling like i got ripped off! First off i told gil on the phone prior to coming to the dealership, that i wanted a lower percentage rate, and he lied to me and said ohh no problem, we can do that... Lies... All lies... He ended up giving me 21% rate which is total bullshit... If you pay 21% its like paying for 2 cars at the end of the loan. I went in to buy a 2008 camry, which was $21,000 on the sticker price, and after the loan would be paid, it would have costed me $48,000 dollars!!! Twice as much.
Well the next day, i stormed into bernardi toyota of framingham mass, and told them i was cancelling the aggreement, they argued with me over and over, and we came to another agreement, that i would purchase the car, so i thought, wow... How wonderful, only after that paperwork was done, it was even worse than the lease... At this point i just wanted the car, so i signed again... I know this sounds foolish, but i was scammed big time. They used all the tricks in the book to scam me into buying the car, not only that but they gave me an extra care warranty for $2500.00 dollars, and a disability insurance for $1822.16 that i didnt need, and they never asked me if i wanted it?
I guess some of this is my fault too, but there's no question that they took advantage of me. Come to find out, the warranty they sold me, was also an overcharge of about $900 dollars, the most they should have charged me was $1600.00 - i called up toyota to complain, but they said to just go to another dealership. And i did, i financed the car with my wife, and got a 7.9 rate, which is great. But i wanted all of you to know how bad bernardi toyota is.
Never never, never go there, you will be sorry, and very scammed, all the salesmen are scam artist... If you dont believe me, go and see for yourself.! I am writing this small but simple webpage as a letter to you, the consumer, in the hopes that i may save you the heartache, trouble, frustration, and dissapointment in buying a car from these ripoff artist ar bernardi toyota. They are lucky i didnt go to the attorney general, or a lawyer, because i should have. They should be put out of business for good, bunch of assholes. Enough said... Please, stay away form them!!! This site is for your benefit, so that you may not get taken advantage from a bunch of thieves..
