I took my 2006 F-150 in to Cottman since it was not going into gear correctly. I thought for sure it was an electrical problem. The told me I would not need a new transmission since it was "new". I just ran out the factory warranty.
Of course, like everyone else, I allowed them to do the $350 diagnosis. They called me the next day and said I would need $2500 in work done.
I went 2 days later to pick it up and it was doing the EXACT same thing. Now they have had it for a week and no calls or nothing back the past couple of days.
I know its an electrical problem and they have pretty much now come to that conclusion. I would think that would be the FIRST thing to check. But of course, why not charge a ton of money since the customer can do nothing about it? You either pay or dont get your car back.
To top it off, the killed my battery and I had to spend another $75 to replace that. They keep the cars in there with the key on an it drains the battery... But of course they made me replace it.
After reading everone else's complaints, Im sure this will turn into a nightmare. I Looked up county records and they have been sued 122 times in Harris county.
If anyone has sued Cottman, please let me know the outcome of your case. I am going to expect a refund of my $2500 but I wont hold my breath. Looks like this is the normal way they do business. I sure wish I would have looked on here before going there!
I will update this once I know more. If it turns out good... I will for sure let everyone know. I am hoping for the best.
If it dont go my way, then small claims court, here I come!!
