It all started on September 25th, I had been researching places to go buy a Volkswagen GTI. I came upon Douglas Hyundai in Irvine. I scheduled with one of the guys to come down there to see the car, he informed that they had two and one had less miles. Since I live all the way in San Bernardino, it was a 2 hour drive to Irvine and once we get there around 8:30, they say we put the other way back in storage, but we still have this 83,00 mille car. My brother was going to be the co-signer, and even thought he didnt like the idea of an 80,000 mile car, her let me buy it to make me happy. I was so excited it was my first car at 18 years old that I could really call mine because my name was on the contract this time.
From the beginning this dealership had been doing illegal things, such as they ran my brother credit with out him being there two seconds after they told us we cant run his credit, its illegal without him being here. At the time I didnt care because I was getting my dream car, but then they started looking more and more shady as the time went on.in order for me to get the car, they sent the car salesman out to my brothers house at 1:00 am to sign the contact. Joe, the car salesman was so dumb that he didnt know what copies to get us so he said they would send the paperwork to us. The next Joe wait until 10:00pm to call and say hes coming back out so we can sign a new contract because it saves us two dollars, they was fishy to me because he had all day to call us and he waited that late to do it.
Again he didnt give us the copies and he promised to send them to us. We called two days after that to check and see if they had sent the paperwork and the finance lady, Denise said she had. It was a week and we still hadnt got the contract, and my brother needed it so we could get insurance on the car, since their insurance only lasted for 3 days. I called Denise on Oct. 4th to see if she has sent the paper work, and she said yeah had sent but apparently not on the day she said she was going to because we got it that Thursday.
On that Thursday that I called her she informs that she needs paycheck stubs because we are not yet financed. I ask her why she didnt call us, she said she had going to but she just found out and that she needs it as soon as possible. I let her know that it might take us awhile because my brother and I are busy people.
We end up sending her paycheck stubs on Monday October 8th. So she calls me on Monday and tells me my brothers paycheck stub is too old, after I told her we might not be able to find new ones and she said send the most recent ones we have. I tell her my brother gets paid on Friday so he can send a new one and she tells me If you cant give me one by tomorrow, bring back the car and the deal is off.
Since theres no possible way my brother is going to get one by the next day, I tell her Ill bring the car back and she kept saying No you dont have to when she talked to my mom but it was a total different story with me. I talked to this lady for a whole week and it was always an attitude she gave me, lying always, and contradicting herself. One minutes she was saying this and then she was saying that.
October 9th.
I call down there to tell her we were on our way with the car, but they said she wasnt there so I asked for the sales manager Chris. I remind him who I am and I tell him, Im bringing the car back because Denise told me to. He acts as if he knew nothing about, he says No you dont have to bring it back, it was a big mistake, let me talk to Denise and my General Manager and says hell call me. Its take him at least two hours to call us back so my dad and I decided to drive down there to give them the car back, figuring that it shouldnt be that big of a deal.
While we are on the freeway Chris finally calls us and say No turn back around, everything is okay, youre financed. We dont believe them because obviously they like lying about everything. We show up there and say heres the car, give my car back and theyre saying No we have you financed just give us the paycheck stubs and its done. They told us that Denise was just a temp and it was a mistake, she didnt know what she was doing. We were tired of this whole thing, the finance lady calling us telling us crap so we didnt even want to deal with them anymore.
We were at that car dealership from 1 pm to 7pm I believe and all those people did was try to bribe us, lie to us, and threaten us. The whole time we were there, they were in the office trying to get us financed, they refused to just take the car back. They lied and said they sold my car, which you cant do without having it paid off. We kept trying to find out who the bank was and they wouldnt tell us, then they gave us a number to Nuvision Credit Union and said that was the company. My brother talked to woman named Charlene who assured us that we were not financed through them, she denied us on October 2nd and she has nothing from them, she said in fact she doesnt even deal with them anymore.
I know that if a car dealership cant get a person financed in 10 days, then the deal is supposed to be over, and they take back the car but they were so against getting that car back which makes me think something might be wrong with it. We were treated so bad by even the General Manager, he hung up on my brother, talked nasty to me and didnt try to resolve anything.
I know they still have my car too because once we left the car there, took pictures and everything, Joe the car salesman came up and said Ill get your car back. My brother ended up recording the conversation he has with the General Manager, we got him lying on tape about us being financed, admitting that Denise did say bring the car back. We left the dealership with the General Manager saying I cant keep both car and my brother saying You can give it to us now, or well get all back in court and thats what we plan on doing if they dont just give it back obviously.
In the mean time Im still paying payments on my Hyundai because they havent paid it off but they have it so I dont even have a car right now. I dont want to be another African American crying discrimination but the those two white managers treated us, it had to be something. I want to contact everyone about and let them know about my story, because they basically stole my car, they have it there and they wont give it to me but its still mine.
