I had a reservation with Rent4Less made through CarRentals.com, their system appears to a a car rental reservation system similar to travelocity for hotels or flights. Their system charged my Debit card $203 in advance after filling out and selecting the best deal at the airport I was coming into. When I arrived, there was no shuttle, the phone number given on the reservation sheet for Rent4Less was incorrect, and after calling them it took over an hour for the shuttle to get me. When I arrived at their office, they said they had no record of any payment, they tried to tell me it was just an authorization, but I insisted it was a debit card charge. Then I was told that the amount I was quoted, ~$394, was not correct, and that with insurance it would be over $600.
This is addition to the $203 I had already paid, but not given credit for. I went ahead and rented with them (I shouldn't have, I felt it was a ripoff) When I returned the car and asked for a refund of the $203, they said they would do it. When I got home, checked my account a few days later, they had charged another $250, and then refunded it. What a scam!
I later complained to CarRentals.com and find out in the small print that they are only selling the collision insurance, that they are not acting as an agent for the car rental company at all. I called my bank and had the charges reversed.
