I have been searching for aftermarket warranties and the other day I had the misfortune to speak with Continental Warranty. I was involoved in a car accident and I have had to search for a new vehicle. The first salesman (Bob Stevenson) at Continental Warranty was nice enough. He supplied me with answers to questions I had, however towards the "final sale" portion of the call he handed me over to his finance person. She was a woman. Unfortunately I didn't get a name. I wish I had.
The verbal altercation began when I was told that I would not receive a formal quote in writing from them until I had supplied them with a "fully refundable" 10% down payment on the policy. This got me suspicious right away. Once the finance person was put on the phone, she began to probe me why I wasn't able to give her the 10%. I explained to her that I have incurred alot of financial expense lately, due to the accident I was involved in and that in a couple of weeks I would be able to possibly provide the down payment. She went on to say that maybe I should not be purchasing the car I was thinking about if I couldn't afford the extended warranty on it. This was very rude and extremely uncalled for. She continued to pester me for ways of getting that 10%. I wish I has gotten her name because I would printed it for all eyes to see. I don't know if her methods represent the company as a whole, but what I did experience with this company has turned my stomach and my business away form ever doing business with them. I feel like if this helps one person researching warranty companies to steer clear of Continental Warranty, then I will be satisfied.
I plan on spreading the negative word on Continental Warranty with every avenue I have available to me. Noone should be treated like this when you are giving away your hard earned money.
Hope this helps.
