I went to Bell Ford to trade my beautiful 2005 Dodge Daytona truck (retail $25,000 wholesale $19,000. I don't owe anything on this truck - it is paid for) My truck was in excellent condition. I wanted to trade for either two used vehicles or one vehicle and cash back and go else were to also get a car for my daughter. I did not want to get rid of my truck. I loved my truck but my daughter came back to live with me to take care of me because I had just gotten out of the hospital. She had been out of state at college and had no vehicle, so for her to live with me she needed a vehicle.
I had told them up front I will not finance and will not lease - what can they do for me. Several hours of negotiating goes by. I'm getting hungry by now and haven't eaten all day, remind you I have been here since 12:30 and it's about 3:30. I had told them that I needed to get myself something to eat. I have a health condition that if I don't eat I don't function in a normal matter plus I had just gotten out of the Heart Hospital a week prior. Well they wouldn't let me go to eat they kept telling me that things will be done soon that were getting to the point that I will be happy with the deal. This went on for several hours. I even asked if my daughter could go get me something to eat and they didn't want her leaving because she was part of the reason I was there.
I was at Bell Ford for close to 6 hours. They were moving cars and closing the doors by this time, so I felt rushed. I was interrogated to the point that I made a decision I would have never done if I was in the right state of mind. I walked out of there not even coming close to what I had in mind to do, which was to trade in my truck and walk out with maybe two vehicles, figuring I might have to pay a few thousand extra to do that. They pressured me into a prepaid two year lease on one vehicle. So I was walking out with a vehicle and a couple grand to use towards a vehicle for my daughter.
I then went and got something to eat and started thinking "what did I just do?" I literally started feeling sick to my stomach realizing that I made the biggest financial mistake in my life and of course, since they were closed, I couldn't do anything until the next day. I have always owned my vehicles out right.
I call the next day, and of course all the managers are in a meeting and will call me when done. A few hours goes by - " no call " so I call again. I was told that they're still in a meeting. I again said please give them a message, time it, date it and sign it.By this time I'm getting a funny feeling so I get into my vehicle and drive down to Bell Ford. All managers were in a meeting so I had asked the salesman to let them know I was waiting for someone to come and talk to me.
When the manager came out to talk to me, he pretty much said that there was nothing they would do for me. They would not work with me whatsoever. I said that if I can't get my truck back then I wanted a used vehicle that would be paid for. I was told I could only exchange for a new vehicle, not used. I was told I could exchange but not return and what they wanted me to exchange for was an insult. I feel they stole my beautiful truck that I didn't even want to sell for a beginner car. Or they said that I could pay for what I just leased. I felt like I had no choice but to buy so I at least owned a vehicle and wasn't borrowing it and end up empty handed in two years when the lease was up. So I'm ready to negotiate a price because i have never paid full price for a vehicle before - I have always negotiated a price. They said "they can't do that. That I would have to pay sticker price for the car " I was LIVID. I walked out of Bell Ford with no deal at all. For my trade in they gave me $20,000 and I had to write a check for $6,500 and still have to fork out money to get my daughter a vehicle. I am a unhappy, unsatisfied customer of Bell Ford. I will never do any kind of business with them again and I do not - I repeat - DO NOT recommend and won't recommend them to anyone.
They do not treat their customers with satisfaction. What happened to the customers always right???
I also believe they train their sales men to push leases and to keep people there as long as they can to wear them down.
