I bought a 2005 Lincoln Aviator from Prince Frederick Ford one evening last month, got it home and found that most of the electronics did not work and in the bright light of day found that the steering wheel, stereo cover and gear shift looked atleast 10 years old.
The a/c did not work, the seats didnt cool, i couldnt adjust my side mirrors (another electronic problem), the reverse sensor didn't work, the breaks squeaked, and i detected the bitter and very distinctive smell of animal urine.
Upon further inspection I found the driver side seatbelt was pure filth from top to bottom, there was a big red stain on the floor between the back seats, a purple stain in the very back and many, many scratch marks on the inside back door. Perfect.
Obviously this vehicle is not the one for me.
Within 48 hours I return the truck and speak to Tony the Finance Manager. He appears sympathetic to my dilema and agrees to find me a replacement truck a.S.A.P.
Its been 45 days. I've called countless times where I'm repeatedly placed on hold by Pam the Receptionist for 15 to 20 minute intervals. No one ever picks up. No one ever returns my calls.
I've gone in person 5 times. On Saturday Tony in Finance offered to sell me a 2005 Navigator (the mirrors didnt work and the inside plastic stuff on the door was falling off) for $33,000 (its currently listed on the internet for $29,000). Thats on top of a $900.00 depriciation fee he wants to charge me for returning the Aviator. That I've driven once.
Yesterday, Mike Lewis tells me the owner of Prince Frederick Ford, Thomas Badman, said he'll return $5,000 of the $10,000 I put down and he'll take the Aviator back.
They will not fix the Aviator, they will not find me a replacement vehicle and if I dont accept half of my deposit back as compensation. I can keep the Aviator and still have nothing to drive!
This cant be legal, can it??
