Pep Boys Auto
Unhappy customer ready to sue pepboys ripoff

I took my vehicle into location 647 on 5/26/07 it was kept a total of 5 days. I had to keep calling for the status of repairs and was told all I needed was a distributor and a Fuel pump, which totaled $1005.56.
I agreed to this because I was told this would fix all issues, after waiting 2 days and hearing no word I called and was told they were having issues replacing the fuel pump because the new pump didn't fit, eventually I was called to pick my car up, within minutes of receipt of my vehicle it shut off on the freeway.

I immediately called PEP BOYS and spoke to Mr. Wriser who asked me to bring the car back.

I had to have it towed back to the location in question, I received no apologies or even an offer to reimburse me for the cost of the tow, they then kept my vehicle a total of 2 more days in which time I kept calling for status and was told they didn't know what the issue was, in conclusion they stated "the fuel pump is not distributing gas evenly through out the car when the gas is half full, all the gas goes to one side of the pump leaving the other side empty so the car shuts off especially during turns". I replied "well fix it I didn't have this issue preexisting and the pump was put in by you.

A day later I received a call that was car was ready, I asked what was the problem initially they stated "We don't know it cut out while we were driving so we just put more gas in it and it seems to be fine now".
Being without a car, frustrated and at my wits end I went down and retrieved my vehicle, like clock work as soon as the gas went a little under half full the car cut out

I decided to take my car to another Pep Boys location seeing as how I had paid all this money and my car was not in good working condition.

I then took it to location 813 on 6/27/07 I called 1st and explained everything to "Rollie" who asked me to bring my car in, I did so when I arrived Rollie was gone for the day I explained everything again to two other representatives that were there to receive my vehicle one made comments on what he thought the problem might have been but because it was nearing closing time it would have to be looked at the next day.

After hearing again no word on the status of repairs I called and was "told Rollie knows what is going on with your car he has been out sick, so the car is sitting here until he comes back.

Livid I asked to speak to a manager named Jose to who after explaining everything once again, "stated it sounds like you are getting the run around". He assured me he would oversee my repairs after 3 more days I received a call from him stating I needed a "brake buster" that was $700 and that would take care of my cars issues. I asked why all of a sudden this was needed and I was not told me by the other location he said he did not know, then went on to say he would call his team lead to see if my money could be refunded or my repairs done for free.

After hearing nothing from him another 2 days I called and was told by Jeff he was out for the 4Th of July holiday. Jose finally called 7/5/07 and stated that "in conclusion the brake buster is the cause of my problems with my car and I could be given a 20% discount toward repairs'.

I asked how I even know this "new problem" is relative the issue at hand seeing as how this was not brought to my attention until recently and not by the other location, I also asked why my repairs would not be done for free seeing as how I had been inconvenienced all this time?

Jose said that was the best he could do and I was welcome to come down and look and what was to be repaired before they began as proof the repairs are needed. I hung up frustrated and decided to email Jose's manager Ernie Constant who has not responded to me at all. Jose called me later that day saying they would try replacing the fuel pump with a new fuel pump which was recommended by Ernie, I agreed to this being at the end of my rope. He said this had to be done 3 days later because the pump had to be ordered.

Long story as of today 7/12/07 my car is still having the same issues.

I called back to Mr. Wiser asking for a refund he suggested I bring the car back for another check with no offer of a rental car.

Pepboys is one big joke and i'm not laughing!

I am highly upset as a patron of PEP BOYS I have been a customer for a couple of years I will make it my business to see that anyone I know does not give any more business to PEP BOYS I have since succeeded in spreading the word to 20 people that were past customers of PEP BOYS who shocked by my outcome wont be coming back to PEP BOYS and they themselves will be telling others. I am going to the Better Business Bureau and will be seeking legal action to the fullest extent for the loss of my funds that were given to PEP BOYS to create a new problem on my car. There are laws against this and I plan to educate myself on them.
