I took my car to Cottman due to a transmission problem. I did sign a contract to have them diagnose my issue. AFTER I left, I realized that it might be covered by my warranty. I called back immediately after to tell them to cease any action until after we knew what the warranty would cover.
The guy (Danny) there told me that he had a lot of experience working with warranties and would call them for me to get things taken care of. He obviously did not stop all work because he removed the transmission entirely. The guy at the dealership where I had to take my car for warranty reasons said that all shops he knows of immediately stop working on my type of car or will not even start because they are aware of the warranties. So, at best the guy at Cottman was lying.
At worst (which I believe to be the case) he knew that he was losing the "sale" and knew that if he hurried up and took it (the transmission) out at least he could get me for half ($700).in my opinion related to my experience, they are not about service but rather about getting whatever money they can from you. I would not go back there if you paid me.
