Another single mom left stranded by Bangor Car Care

We went to Bangor Car Care to get a car in September of
06. We wanted a safe, reliable car for our family. We looked at a 2000 Plymouth Breeze after driving several cars that had noticable problems (but were on the
lot for sale).

The Breeze seemed fine, we asked if the transmission was alright because we'd had problems with a similar car (dodge stratus) in the past with transmissions. We were assured the car was in perfect working order, under a
warranty of inspectability. We were told if anything on the car went that would keep it from being inspectable we could have it fixed.

A day later the check engine light came on, one DAY later. I called immediately and they said their was nothing they could do because "check engine light isn't an inspectability item". We were also told by Bangor Car Care that the car was bought at auction and already inspected there, but later found out it was sold from Hazel Rumney to Bangor Car Care and they did the inspection there.

I took it to 2 garages and they both said not only had the check engine light been reset (turned off), but our transmission was failing (the torque converter), as well as a brake switch, and there was an oil leak that ruined our spark plugs. I called repeatedly asking what they (Bangor Car Care) planned to do with no answers. The only thing they did was pressure me into getting them more info so my loan would get approved (aparentely it wasn't approved at the time that I gave them a down payment, signed a contract and left with the car).

I finally got their mechanic, Scott on the phone who told me he could get us a cheaper transmission. He never returned my calls after that one conversation. I tried to get the owner Glen on the phone and was given the runaround by some woman who was so rude she brought me to tears. I couldn't fathom that someone would leave us without a car to get to work to even pay for the car.

The lienholder wouldn't even give us a break on
payments to try and come up with the money. $3000 in repairs later (almost the value of the car itself), we're struggling to get by in a car that's still faltering (now needs even more work). We're not the only ones who have had a simliar complaint about this business. They're junk dealers, sending people off in unsafe cars and driving them to the poorhouse in the process.

They falsley advertise on the radio as having excellent customer service, and caring for the customer. That is complete false advertising. Not only are they rude and
abrasive, they've failed on several occasions to return my calls. The car we had previously that we traded in (a Volvo wagon), in hindsight wouldn't have needed even a quarter of the money to repair it that our "new" car did.

Not only is this a case of a defective product, but it's a case of false advertisment and misrepresentation of a service or product; as well as a verbal presentation that did not reflect a written agreement, AND customer service that failed to provide assistance.

All that aside, what if my transmission had died with my two year old son in the car? Would they care then? I highly doubt it.
