Ripoff Deceptive Auto Sales Harassment Invasion of Privacy

In March of my husband and I purchased a 2000 Dodge Stratus from Pro car auto group, and we were financed through Atlantic Financial Services. I have since found out that Pro Car and AFS are one in the same.

We purchased the Vehicle for $6795 and we purchased a warranty for $699. The vehicle had 93000 miles. We put $1200 down on the car. After a month we began having problems with the car. When I called the dealership, I was told to call the warranty company. For 2 months I got a busy signal every time I dialed the number of this company. I continued to make payments, and put a significant amount of money into the car. We paid almost $2000 more than what the car was worth at the time.

We were unable to make the payments. We considered trading the car in but still owed $6600 on the loan, so there was no way we could because we owed so much more than the car was worth. We had decided to have the car voluntarily repossessed. I spoke with a representative from Atlantic Financial services, and informed her that this was the decision we had made. I asked where I could take the car, and she said I would be contacted by a supervisor.

About a week later, I was contacted by a supervisor, and was told that I could not return the car to Procar, if I did the car would be towed back to my house at my expense. I asked if they would come pick up the car from my property, again I was told no. That I needed to come up with the money I owed. After speaking with me, she then called my friends and family that I had listed as references. When I called her back, she told me once again, that I had no choice but to pay the money I owed. I agreed that I owed money, but I knew that the sooner the car was repossessed, the sooner more affordable payment arrangements could be made. I asked her repeatedly if a voluntary repossession was an option and she refused to answer my question.

I also have reason to believe that Atlantic Financial has pulled my credit report recently, as the supervisor advised me to have our other vehicle repossessed. (which I wouldn't do because the other vehice was purchased under honest circumstances and runs as it should.)

Also, at the time of purchase, I inquired about a carfax report. The Sales Person said that the systems were down and that one would be mailed to me the next day, but that she knew it was a clean report. I called a few times after that to see why I had never recieved on and never got a direct answer. I ran the VIN # at carfax, and it is showing that there are 25 records pertaining to this vehicle. I can't find out what those records are unless I pay $24.99. After finding this out I contacted Pro Car Via email and once again requested a copy of this report. I recieved a message from a salesman, who also said the report was clean. He said he was putting the report in the mail as we spoke. That was a week ago and I still haven't gotten the report.

I believe that this company makes money on decieving people that have negative credit. They prey on individuals who are without many options.
