While going through a divorce, I was ordered to return a vehicle I leased from Toyota. At the same time, I gave them a copy of the court order.
About a month later, I was contacted by their collections arm (which I expected) and was told that they had repossessed my vehicle (unexpected and a big fat lie) and that I owed thousands of dollars.
We made an agreement for me to repay the money and that they would remove the 'repossession' from my credit report... However, even though I paid according to the terms of the agreement, they kept the false repossession on the report and listed the account as a 'paid-charge-off' (A horrible blemish on my credit report).
I have contacted lawyers to get this resolved but am told that there is nothing I can do. So I am telling other people to watch out and to get everything in writing.
