Fraudulent business practices, over charging, incompetence, covert damage to vehicle to force frequent return business Ripoff

I started taking my car to Tiresplus in 2005. Like clockwork, ever month after taking it to Tiresplus the car would have mysterious minor mechanical problems, such as two batteries going dead. Every month there would be a mechanical failure requiring me to come back to Tiresplus and spend around $100. They even tried to tell me I needed to replace my gas cap (which was new).

My car leaked and they told me there was a seal I needed replaced. I discovered that the only reason my car leaked was that their was a build-up of mud and sand around the rim of my door.

At one point they damaged the pins that hold the wheels on because they used an air gun to screw the lug nuts on my tires (after I had my alignment checked). Several pins broke and although it was their fault I was charged to have the wheels disassembled and the pins replaced.

I needed my timing belt replaced at one point and was quoted around $500. Naturally, I took it to an independent mechanic and had that done for about $250.

Finally, one day I took the car in for a tune-up and some minor work. I was given a $1200 estimate to replace the serpentine belt and A/C belt which are not difficult to remove and replace on my car. Not being grotesquely stupid, I decided to take my business elsewhere, permanently.

I then started going to Midas. I got the work mentioned above done and more for about $400. The mechanics at Midas were more professional, did a better job, and I have had no mechanical failures since mid 2006.

Since this time I have heard many horror stories about many of the Tires Plus stores in Melbourne and Palm Bay (they are managed by the same people).
