In the 2nd week of June I received a flyer from Mesquite Hyundai stating "Sports Scratch-Off Spectacular." It had three scratch off stars and if you get 3 footballs under the stars you will get $2000*. There was an asterisk by the $2000. So I read the additional information by the asterisk and it states *Grand prize is a $2000 online shopping spree. Customer is responsible for shipment of purchased items. Shipping may vary. No purchase necessary. Restrictions apply. See dealer for details.
I won so I wanted the $2000 online shopping spree. So I called the phone that shows "If you are a winner call Event Hotline: 1800-423-1044." It was a recorder that said that you for calling Event Headquarters... If your confirmation is 4693-WIN then go to the dealer to claim your prize." The flyer states, "Must redeem prize at Mesquite Hyundai June 6th - June 10th during sale hours. I went to Mesquite Hyundai on June 10th. There were two other winners in front of me in line. A girl comes up and says, "If you here for the Sales Event step over here." No one moved. She continued, "If you here for the winning the scratch off then tear off your name and address from the flyer and give it to me." We all did what she said but then I asked what happens next. She stated, "your certificate will be mailed to you for the shopping spree and we need this part to know who won." I asked how long will that take. She states, "about 60 days." OK. I waited 60 days and did not receive the certificate. Today I called Mesquite Hyundai at 469-221-8000 (a ph# from the white pages online) and inquired about the certificate. This lady says, "Oh that was a long time ago." I said 60 days to be exact and I did not receive my certificate for my shopping spree. She stated, "well that fell through. The people never sent anything." I said I spend my gas, my time to claim my winnings and you are telling people this. She states, "call them." I told her I had no number for them to speak to someone. She said, "sorry, and disconnected the call." This is a bait n switch tactic. They put it out there, I took a bite, and the results "Sorry."
I still have the flyer. I have filed a BBB complaint & they stated they spoke to Terry Burroughs who stated he will mail me another one. I never received it Terry! I informed BBB that I never rec'd it and filed another complaint today. I want to know if anyone else participated in this scam and did you get your $2000 online shopping spree.
