I recently purchased a new car from La Point in Murray Utah. Fortunately I have a really good friend who sold it to me, and I do not blame him in the least.
When I traded in my old car the appraiser told my friend that it was worth $4,000.000 but they would only give me $3,000.00. He said no way.
When I went to sign the papers, the finance man told me there was no way I could get a lower percentage on my loan even though I had excellent credit. He also told me my credit union would require an enormous down payment to finance through them.
All of this I found to be untrue, and after sighning with their recommended bank, I checked it out and was able to refinance through my credit union for a 2% lower rate and no down payment. Not to mention, their GAP insurance was $500.00 as opposed to my credit union's $200.00
Please check your own financial institution to see their rates and if you can be pre approved for a loan. That is the important thing I have learned in this mess.
