Ugly Duckling, Drive Time
I traded in a 2000 Honda Civic for a Chevy Trailblazer 2002 with a transmission problem. Ripoff

I purchased a vehicle from Drive Time in Austin, Texas. I wanted something a little bigger and decided on a Trailblazer. The only reason I went to Drivetime is because I listed to a friend and was told they work with you. I waas told to get into the trailblazer at the amount I was paying on the Honda I would have to add $750 to the trade off amount I was getting (4,600). My notes were still higher @$360 a month. Everything was going great until a week later when you start the truck it sounds like there is an airplane inside with you. They tried fixing it several times. The first time I was told to bring it to Firestone, whom cause another problem, the check engine light came on before I could leave the parking lot of Firestone and then I was told to bring it to Chevrolet were they had a person that checked on vehicles for them and when she kept it the whole day she said that once the part was fixed by firestone they didn't reset some sort of chip. Well needless to say the check engine light came back on and the smae noise persists. To give you an idea of what happens when I hear that noise, the engine is reved up really high and when you try to press on the gas, the truck doesn't move or moves very slowely, so I have to wait until the noise dies down before I can start to drive. I spoke to the store manager and explained all the trouble I had gone through and was told that they basicaly wouldn't do anything to help me. When I was signing the contract and I asked (Albert Sledge-Sales Manager) for clarification on the payments, drivetime wants you to pay every two weeks, which was great for me, but I asked if I ran into a problem could I call and state that I would make a payment late, I was told yes, but when I actually did run into that problem I was told no, I needed to make the payment regardless of what I had going on. I tried explaining what I was told and was basically told that I needed to read my contract by a girl named Gene. I was pretty upset by this time and started telling people not to purchase vehicles from them anymore. I tried to trade the vehicle in a few months ago and not one dealership will take the truck, I have been told to give the vehicle back, and what really upsets me is I don't have bad credit and received a 19% finance rate.
