Cottman/AAmco Transmission I paid $1124.87 for transmission repairs which was supposed to be covered under warranty

I had a Cottman transmission / AAMCO Transmission installed in St. George, UT. On July 25. Our motor home has been in and out of garages 4 times in 1 year. When traveling between Canmore & Kamloops, BC. On July 13, it would not shift by its self. I was able to drive to Lakewood, WA. And was directed to AAMCO transmission in Tacoma / Lakewood by Jerry Doherty of AAMCO transmission, formerly Cottman transmissions, in St. George, UT. They kept the R V for a week and Chris, said, "The diagnostic test showed it was in the wiring between the transmission and the processor".

He suggested I go to Ford in Auburn, WA. Because AAMCO doesnt repair wiring. The diagnostic test was $175 and the test at Ford showed it was the transmission. We went back to Tacoma / Lakewood where AAMCO had a heavy duty truck on the lift. We were told we would have to wait.in St. George, UT., Boise, Id. And Baker City, Ore. No lift was used to work on the transmissions. When I told Chris, at AAMCO, he said "we don't work on transmissions without putting them up on the lift".

After waiting 12 days with a number of excuses, I called Auburn Ford, but they were tied up for over a week, so I went to Tacoma / Lakewood / Ford, which was only 3 blocks away from AAMCO Transmission in Tacoma / Lakewood. It cost $949.15 for them to replace the shifting solenoid assy.in the transmission. On Aug. 8 I called Jerry Doherty, AAMCO in ST. George, UT. And talked with Dave. He told me Jerry Doherty would call me right back, but he never did. On Aug. 20, I left Jerry a message.

On Aug. 22, I talk with Dave again and was assured Jerry would call me right back. On Aug. 24 I called Brent Johnson @Tourist Transmission in Salt Lake City, UT., The builder of the transmission. He said, " He had talked with Jerry in St. George and told him to call me".

As of yet, he hasn't. All this work done on the transmission is covered under warranty and needs to be paid by AAMCO. I will be more than happy to discuss this situation in depth with you in person or on the phone. This has been an extremely frustrating transaction overall, not only the lack of commutation, but braking down 4 times, being towed 2 times, and replacing the transmission completely twice, the last being Dec. 05. One more thing. Chris would not let me talk with the owner.

Sincerely, W B Couch
