I purchased a car in August and was financed by United Auto Credit out of Westmont, Illinois. My first payment was due September 23. They called me the day before and said it was a courtesy call to remind me of my due date the next day. When I go to my office it is convenient for me to stop by and make the payment as they are on my way home. However I spend a lot of time in the field. I was very studious about sending my payment out on the 18th of each month 5 days before it was due unless I stopped by and made the payment in person.
In january I was working out of town and called United Auto Credit and told them that I would be back to make the payment in person on January 25th and thought nothing more of it until I started getting phone calls from all of my references telling me that United Auto Credit had called them and told them that they could not get in touch with me and that I owed them money and was behind on my payments to them. Gee I thought that was Illegal?
Of course I immediately called United Auto Credit to ask them what they thought they were doing and reminded them that I had called the day before to let them know that I would be in that Wednesday (2 Days) late to make the payment because I was working out of town and had not brought my checkbook with me, mind you I was also delayed in returning until Tuesday night because the job ran over. The guy I talked to was named Jason and he was extremely rude and condescending and threatened me with repossession and everything else and told me I had to go to Western Union and do a quick collect or he would personally come and get the car.
I basically told him to stuff it and I would see him on Wednesday. I continued to make the my payments and then in April I mailed my payment in on the 18th and they called me on the 23rd to ask where my payment was I told them I mailed it on the 18th with a Postal Money Order they continually harassed me because I refused send them another payment when I had already sent it. Come to find out they had received it on the 20th and noone had logged it in. Then I sent in my June payment by check and heard nothing then my july payment and heard nothing then I sent in my August payment and on the 24th I received a call from them that my car payment had not been made since May.
I went to check my bank statement and sure enough none of teh checks had gone through my bank 2 days later I got all three of my checks back in the mail with a letter from them telling me they could no longer accept checks from me because I had a late payment back in January. I told them to come and get the car and their services were no longer needed here it is the end of November and here the car still sits. I have had it with them and am done. They continually call and harrass me and my references any attorneys out there that would like to take these guys on and get them out of business?
