Hi, I have had a car loan with this group since May. My payment is due the 21st of each month so I usually mail it a day or two after I get paid on the 15th of the month.
Well, this month (August) we got paid on the 15th which was a Wednesday. My husband and I have been discussing changing our bank account, we're out of checks so it was a good time to move it. On Friday the 17th, my husband closed one account and opened a new one. They gave us like 2 counter checks and my husband just not thinking, used them to pay 2 utility bills. Oops. I reminded him that I had to make my car payment by the 21st.
Ok so on Monday the 20th he goes and get a few more counter checks and brings one by my office. I mail the payment on the 20th. Secondly to add to my credit... My payment due is $398... Since May I have overpaid every month and just written a check for $400.
This morning, August 22nd I received a call at work from Claire asking me where my payment was. I told her I mailed it on the 20th and she said "well is was due yesterday and if I don't get it today I'm gonna send your check back to you and you're gonna have to western union the payment" I said, "that's crazy, no one should have to do that" and she said "Ma'am, we don't have a grace period" and then just hung up on me. I'm fuming!!!
I will call her back but I have to calm down before I say some really ugly things... Plus... I work in cubicle and have some VERY nosey neighbors so I don't want them to hear me. I think I'll call her at lunch and make sure my payment showed up in todays mail. If not, then I'm going to throw the book at her about our state laws and in GA your not even considered late until after 30 days.
Thirdly, I've been getting all kinds of refinancing mail for a auto loan. I think I'm going to make some contacts and see if I've repaired my credit enough to go to someone else. I've been working very hard the last 2-3 years trying to clean up my credit (ruined by an ex-husband!)
