Scheduled a maintenance appointmnet 35 days out day after I purchased my auto

I purchased a vehicle from JD Byrider. The test drive was fine and I did completely look over the vehicle for leaks, corrosion, etc. I did have prior education in Automotive and Diesel Technology from Lincoln Technical Institute 20 years ago.

The following day after purchasing the vehicle, the drivers side window would not go down, the radio volume button would not work, and the emission control light came on. I called JD Byrider and they scheduled my maintenance appointment 35 days out. I asked, "Why so far out?" The clerk indicated they were backed up.

I have an Accounting Degree and I've been working in the Finance industry for the last 15 years. I would guess my appointment was so far out because JD Byrider wanted to get all of their deferred payments before scheduling any vehicles for maintenance.

I've read many "Rip Off" reports about JD Byrider giving customers the run-around on servicing vehicles. Thanks for those reports. I've since chosen a different service shop to correct my problems. I'll pay for it, but at least I won't get the run-around.

Many of us have our reasons for going to JD Byrider. We all have good intentions of paying on time, but problems do occur. Their vehicles are way over priced, but we proceed with the purchase. They videotape our contract signing. Something that's never heard of, but still we continue the process. They even tell us if we are a day late, the vehicle will be repo'd. With our minds so focused on getting out of there after 6 hours, and finally getting on the road again in our new "used" car, we don't think of the consequences.

I've read the reports of how JD Byrider harasses you if you are a day late, even sending "thugs" or "loan sharks" to your house demanding payment. All of your references are called repeatedly.

We are customers from the time we first enter the lot until the time the loan is paid off. The respect we got with the hello, my name is..., welcome to JD Byrider, is the same respect we should get if we are a day late. Granted we are in contract and they do want their money, someone in JD Byrider ownership has orchestrated their company to treat us like "slime." Those with credit scores less that 600 that don't pay bills on time.

Anybody can fall into this category at anytime due to circumstances out of their control. Whether its medical bills, lost jobs, illness, divorce, high gas prices, etc, things can happen. Regardless of your situation, no creditor should ever be given the opportunity to harass you by coming to your house and demanding payment. Nor should they be allowed to deny payment because you are a day late until you've had your 101 Harassment Session with the manager.

Thankfully, I've never been late. But if I were a day late and the manager wanted to chew me out, I wouldn't let him. I'd shove the keys down his throat, and tell him to keep the car. I'll then hire an attorney, and file bankruptcy so all harassing calls can be put to a stop before they even start.

Since they think we are "slime" and we don't care about paying bills on time, we are possibly in situations to file a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and include JD Byrider as the first creditor. Just think if most of us did that. We would wipe our slates clean and JD Byrider would be forced sell $5000 cars for $20000 and raise their financing rates even higher on new customers who eventually wouldn't be able to afford even higher payments. New customers would be paying $500 a month for a 10 year-old "Hoopty" that's inoperative while their neighbor is paying $490 a month on a brand new Escalade.

JD Byrider, like any business granting credit, doesn't want to hear the word "Bankruptcy." It's disrespectful. For JD Byrider, it means "write-offs" and lack of profit. For us, it means "RELEIF."

For this reason, WE THE CUSTOMER HAVE THE POWER. Just like we have the power to keep JD Byrider in business by abusing us with their overpriced vehicles, high interest loans, and loan sharking antics, we have to power to slash JD Byrider's profits and put them out of business by seeking relief in bankruptcy.

Why do you think normal banks deal passionately with their customers behind on their car payments? They don't want to lose profit. If that's the case with the "Big Boys, " why do we let little "GEICO" JD Byrider bully us?

First of all, pay your bills on time. Secondly, if you anticipate being late, discuss with JD Byrider in advance. Thirdly, demand R-E-S-P-E-C-T, don't let them disrespect you. And lastly, if they disrespect you, disrespect them and get some "R-E-L-I-E-F!"
