American Engine Installation
Ripoff of remanufactured engine

On March 17, I put my 99' Chevy Lumina in their shop due to knocking in the engine. I retrieved my car back on March 24, still with a little ticking in the engine, I called them about it, Shawn (the owner) told me that I had to give it some time to let the rods settle in place and it would stop making that noise. I took the car to get the oil changed after the first 500 miles as they stated on the warranty to American Tire Company, they informed me that I had the wrong anti-freeze in my car and it would corrode my entire cooling system, so I called AEI to inform them that they had put the wrong anti-freeze in my car and they need to drain and fill it with the Dex-Coolant or it would corrode the cooling system.

They couldn't get it in on April 4, so Shawn told me to bring it in on April 7th, I did. On June 14 coming home from work my car started overheating, oil started leaking from under the car and my check engine light came on, needless to say I took it back to them, they called me the same day and Patricia (the receptionist) told me that I need a crankshaft sensor and it wasn't covered under warranty but it was on my receipt that I had paid for that, then I spoke with another guy who told me it was my camshaft and that wasn't covered under warranty, so then I went in and they told me something totally different and that too was under warranty.

Yes, there was a third time, on the weekend of the 4th of July, I was coming home from work and my oil light came on, I pulled up in front of some apartments and as soon as I turned the car off oil was just pouring from under the car and oil was on every component under the hood, called them on that following Tuesday being that they were closed for the holidays for them to come and pick the car up, they told me that it was things that wasn't covered under warranty and the things that were under warranty the 90 days had already passed and I would have to pay them $700 for some parts, I wasn't willing to do that again they discovered that it was there fault and they had to foot the bill.

When I started the car up, it was knocking very loudly, so Shawn (the owner) told me to leave it there so they could get it right, mind you oil was on every component under the hood tell me why when i finally got my car back they hadn't steamed cleaned the oil off and it had become sticky. Now, here we are at the 4th time, my car overheated on the interstate on a Friday, on that Sunday I had a mechanic to look at the car, now I was suppose to have a remanufactured engine in that car, he told me that they replaced the front of the engine not the back of the engine, the front looked new but the back of it looked like the original pieces that came on it.

They picked it up on August 19 and Shawn called the same day and told me that my head gasket was blown and they were not responsible for that being that they had advised me to replace the radiator that I had just put in about 6-7 months earlier, I told him, I told you all that this was going to happen due to you putting the wrong antifreeze in my car, I've gone through this before and paid Chevrolet $600 to repair it, so that's your problem he agreed and said we'll take car of it.

Today is September 26 and my car is still in their shop. I'm out of over $7,000 dollars behind this ordeal. They originally told me that it would be $2200, but when I got the car out I paid $3300, not including the $1500.00 in rental and the $1750 for a down payment on a car I just purchased 2 weeks ago. This company is ripping people off; they are not putting new parts on cars as stated. I called Chevrolet to see if they could fix the problem, they told me if I purchased a remanufactured engine that they should have given me a certificate for the engine, I asked Shawn and his response was, do you get a certificate of purchase when you buy something from - ?

I have called on several occasions since I last put my car in the shop, but they are just giving me the run around and will not return my calls. After all this I have gained a little humor, but this is really going to make you laugh... The last time that I went to go get my car my check engine light was on and there "mechanic" told me it was on because I didn't have enough gas in my car and if I put more gas in my car it would go off, I know I'm a woman, but I did take 2 yrs. Of auto mechanics and even if i hadn't I would have known that was a lie.
