On July 9th we purchased a 97 Mazda 626 LX from this used car lot. We have only put 850 miles on this vehicle in 2 months and that has been just getting around town.
The car has been a complete nightmare! The day after we brought it home we noticed some loud clicking from the front end of the vehicle when turning. After checking it out the CV axles on both sides needed replacing.
Within a couple more days, the check engine light came on, and the transmissions overdrive light started blinking. The OBD codes stored in the computer basically told me that the pre catalytic converter needed replacing, and that the transmission was also going to need to be replaced or rebuilt in the very near future. OBD Code 1744.
Now as if that wasn't already enough, today it was being driven and started overheating. The thermostat was working properly and everything seemed to be ok until I opened the radiator cap and was stunned at the sight of what appeared to be radiator/block sealer in the water. There is exhaust getting into the cooling system somehow. I believe there is a crack in the head somewhere.
We did contact the dealership to let them know how upset we are with this lemon of a car. They have pretty much just said good luck. It is unreal that there is no recourse that we can take against this dealership. I mean we traded in a perfectly running 92 Saturn and gave them $2600 cash for this car. Now we are stuck with a car that pretty much has to just sit in our driveway.
DO NOT buy a car from these scammers. They say the cars on their lot are looked over by their mechanic and safety checked. I know for a fact that this car was bandaided together to get it sold! Please beware!
