We thought we were dealing with a private owner when we won the high bid on ebay. We agreed to pay $710.00 cash and pick up the vehicle in Pennsylvania, which is 900 miles away.
We got to Pennsylvania and found out it was a Limo service slash auto sales place. The man we spoke with wasn't even there, he sent an employee to handle the transaction.
We signed the paperwork for the car and paid him in cash. Upon agreement he was to transport to get temp tags and the title transfer from Delaware tags which they bought it from to our name.
Before we even went to the auto tag place the employee made a detour to his mothers house which a halfhour out of the way. Then he took us to the tag place. He forgot the paperwork and we had to drive all the way back to the limo/auto sales. He got the paperwork and we proceeded to the tag place.
At the tag place we purchased temp tags and filled out the title the way they told us to. We signed and dotted our I's and crossed our t's the way we were told. We were told we had all we needed and should be able to get plates back in Ohio.
Now back in Ohio it is plate day and I go to get them and the bureau says I need an original bill of sale that we never received and the title was filled out wrong. I could not get plates.
I tried emailing and calling leaving messages for a call back and every time I did I would get they are on vacation or not gonna be in the office for a few days.
Finally I got a call back and told them I needed to send the title to them to be filled out properly and i needed the original bill of sale. I sent the items via DHL to track it. I even sent return postage and they said they would call when received and call when they mailed it back.
No calls and no mail for almost 2 weeks. I finally got the tile back and the original bill of sale. The original bill of sale was not the original billof sale instead it was a piece of paper printed from word pad on the computer and all it had was the vehicle info and the price we payed.
I took the title and the bill of sale to the title bureau. Again it is all wrong and I cannot get my plates for this vehicle. The lady at the bureau called and spoke with them and told them I needed a notorized original bill of sale with a signature and a notorized original letter of correction regarding the purchaser information. They agreed to do this and mail it out to me asap.
I also needed to get an ohio inspection on the vehicle which we were never told. We were told it was inspected in PA and that was okay.
While we waited for the paperwork to come through the mail we took the vehicle to get inspected.in route to inspection facility we were pulled over by our city police dept. And upon running the vehicle we were told that it doesn't exist. The vehicle does not come up in the system and the title also does not exist. That to me means that the title was jumped and Luxury ripped me off from the moment they took the $710 from my hands.
It has been 3 months now and I have a car I cannot get plates for, cannot drive, and now it doesn't even exist. A $700 transaction has turned into almost $1500 and I hold Luxury responsible. I get the old story everyone is on vacation or not in the office when I call and my messages must get filed in the garbage can. I have been more than patient, I have kept my cool and not been nasty about this and in return all i have received is slandering feedback on me at ebay, unprofessionalism, no willingness to communicate or cooperate and when they do cooperate it is just to appease me so i stop calling for awhile. I feel my rights as a consumer have been more than violated to the fullest extent and these people need to be punished so other consumers don't have to go through this nightmare
