I filled out the online credit application at the Public Motors web site, including all information including the fact that I had only $500 for a downpayment. The next day, Carmen called me to tell me I was approved, so I made an appointment and came on down, no small feat in Friday night Los Angeles traffic.
I then had to fill out another application. I asked why, since I had already done it on the web. They didn't have that. Guess what, they rejected my application. I said that I was told on the phone by Carmen that I was approved and it was the only reason I came down. They said that Carmen cannot run a credit check. THEN WHY IS SHE CALLING PEOPLE AND TELLING THEM THEY ARE APPROVED? They said they could finance me for $2000 down. I said that I had already told them on the web form I only had $500 to put down (and my trade, which they valued at $500), so they already had that information when they called me and fradulently told me I was approved.
If you have poor credit and are looking for a "we finance anyone" type dealership, don't waste your time with this company. They are dishonest and for all I know Carmen is sitting in Bangladesh on the end of a telephone. She certainly doesn't know what they are going to do when you actually get to the lot!
