Ripoff Rearended by a Bristol customer & claims they did not pay premium until the next day

I was just in an accident Monday, July 31. The car in front of me made a sudden stop. I was able to stop, I looked in my rearview mirror and realized the van behind me wasn't able to stop. I was trying to get out of his way, but couldn't he rearended me and my car went into a 180 degree spin and went into the media, keep in mind this was on a highway. My children and I were sent to the hospital.

The next day I called Bristol, because first I wanted to make sure the accident was reported, and I had been told that they had to provide me with a rental car. When the man called me the next day he told me that the insurance was not enforced on that day, that the insurance had lapsed for 10 days or so and that the man had paid for the insurance the next day and it was good that day CONVIENENT HUH? I called the man and he said he had paid the insurance. I am a little skeptical either way, but I owe on my car and For one it was not my fault, I have the police report, and I also contacted a lawyer who told me that a insurance policy is good for 30 days even after an elapse. I am going to call the Insurance board tomorrow and I am hoping to straighten this up. I believe they are lying just to keep from paying the claim.
