In December my wife and I went to Brown's Ford Of Johnstown, NY where we met a very nice salesperson Jamie. He talked us into a 2002 Ford Focus 4 door Z for around ten thousand. He than convinced us to buy the five-year extended warranty which he claimed covered EVERYTHING. Well, sometime in January rust showed up under the door and on the inside of the trunk, we notified them and they said they need three dry days, it's now June 27th and they keep putting us off when we call on the rust.
I had noticed around the same a clanging noise from the front end, it ended up being a broken front axle, they fixed it no charge. A few weeks later that clank was back, we returned and I swore it was the shocks or springs, they said the allignment was off, then tried to charge us for that service. We called Jamie throughout all this time informing him of what was happening.
About a week ago we noticed a squeek noise from the front end, we made an appoitment for them to check it out, do an oil change, fix the broken the broken strap above the drive door and to check out the squeeky noise plus the rusty rotors which Jamie claimed would claen up shortly after we took the car home, all they did was the oil chanhe and now they said the squeek is broken steering bearing/struts and that is not covered by the warranty and we'd have to fork out $250.
This past week was the first weekend we needed the air conditioner on, it did not blow any cold air at all. We told them to look at that also, and they said they need $250 for the diagnosis test but the parts would be free. On both front rims the lug nuts are rusty, this is also NOT covered under the unconditional warranty.
I called Jamie monday and he said he'd see what was going on and would call me back. I received no call back monday nor today (tuesday), and am really getting mad now.
The bottom line is a car that is only four years old shouldn't first of all have all of these issues, second why are they giving us such a hard time when we forked out around $2500 for the five-year warranty? We also paid cash for the full amount of the car which was around thirteen-thousand.
My advice, stay clear of Brown's Ford in Johnstown, NY.
