I bought a car through these people back in Nov '04 that cost $5833. When I agreed to buy the car, it was for a year and a half of weekly payments. I was very rarely late on any payments. Longest I went was only 3 or 4 days. I started to give them a month or more of checks at a time, dated for every week for the $63, that way I will no longer be late.
Back in Jan of this year ('06) I was told that they had a repo man after me. He was going to my sister in laws place of work anouncing to everyone in the store about how I was "months behind" on my payments and he was going to take my car one way or another. He also went to my parents house, doing the same thing there. Telling, and showing, everyone there my information and saying he was going to take my car.
I later found out, that the payments I seen being made in Jan were actually Dec payments. I thought I had given them enough checks to cover Jan. I eventually got behind in that month. I sent in an extra payment, my husband hand delivered a payment, and told me he sent in the payment for the last 2 wks, and the repo man will not be coming around.
In Feb of '06 I started a direct deposit from my checking account to send my payments to them automatically, since I ran out of checks in Jan.
Next thing I know, on April 12th the repo man, walked into my garage and jumped into my car and drove off with it! We called Brenner to find out what was up with it, and they told us that they have not recieved any payments since Jan! I told them they have been cashing the checks that I have sent out every week! They called me a liar and said someone else had to of been cashing them! They cursed and yelled at me, and hung up on me a few times.
My husband had to call of work the next day (hes a truck driver) in order to find us a ride down to Miflintown to get our personal belongings out of the car. His wallet, my money, and my kids's school things were all in the car! While we were there, I gave them proof that the payments were being made, and a copy of a cashed check, and told them they had no right taking my car, and I wanted it back. They said that I had to wait till they showed the paper work to some guy.
I contacted the BBB about it, and Brenner replied that I made irregular paymentw, was never on time with payments, etc. And that I had 30 days to come up with almost $3000 to get my car back! Including repo fees!
These people are rip-offs, and very ignorant and unprofessional. They even ripped of my mother in law! When she went to pay her car off early they still charged her ALL the interest for the year she had left!
The cars are not that good, my mother-in-laws is actually falling apart, and mine spent more time in a garage than on the road! Something needs to be done with them!
