Americredit
Ripoff

I'm also a victim of americredit. I got a loan from them for a van. My second loan from them. The first one was paid off on time and in full. Then I decided to get another vehicle. On the new loan I actually made every payment EARLY and they still called me the day after the loan was due to ask where the payment was.

It seems that if you make a payment early they treat it as extra money towards the principle and NOT the payment! I went many months of dealing with their harrassing phone calls and bad attitudes only to have them say they were sorry, that my lean was paid up in advance afterall. Then I was laid off from my job and I called to tell them I was going to have to miss a couple of payments. I had to go through their paperwork mess and was approved to skip a couple of months.

This somehow didn't make it to the repo man because I had a repo man at my house 30 days after the first "skipped" payment was due. He took my van. I then had to make arrangements with Americredit to get my van back and even though I was approved to skip the payments, I was told that once it was repossessed I had to pay the 2 missed payments (The second payment to be skipped was now also due) plus 2 more payments. A total of 4 payments. So I paid this after borrowing money from family and using my first unemployment check.

Then I was told, after asking, that I could really skip the next two payments. Well guess what?! The repo man was back at my house at 3am asking for my vehicle! I explained it to him and showed him all the paperwork but it was no use. I then told him he wasn't getting it. I got in MY van and drove away. He followed for a bit but gave up (I had a full tank of gas, he wasn't getting this van)

I then called Americredit and was told I was going to go to jail. They also called me a few names and told me all the things that were going to happen if I didn't give the van to them. (I had to send a certified letter telling them to never contact me again to get them to stop calling my home and my new employer)

That was over a year ago. I still have the van and those crooks will never get it. Sure, I don't drive it and it sits parked in a locked garage that they don't know about. (I bought another van though a auction and paid cash for the thing) The repo man shows up every once in a while spouting how I'm going to go to jail and he's going to get the van but I don't care. I played by the rules but the lender didn't. I enjoy the game and laugh every time they show up. Serves them right!
